How do Gift Certificates work?
PLEASE NOTE: Gift certificates are NOT sent in the mail. After purchasing, you'll be sent an email confirmation that includes a link to send the gift certificate to a friend or to print the gift certificate. In your email confirmation, simply click "Send it to a Friend" to view your gift-giving options.

How To Redeem
The Gift Certificate code will be written on the certificate in the email notification or on the printed gift certificate. Enter the gift certificate code during the third step of the checkout process along with billing information. Under "Billing Information", there's a field to enter a coupon code or gift certificate code. Click "Apply" to deduct the coupon amount from your order total. The code will be written on the certificate in the email notification or on the printed gift certificate. If the gift certificate amount exceeds the order total, the balance will remain on the gift certificate code to be used on future orders.

If you're having any problems redeeming your gift certificate, please email us. We will not be able to apply a gift certificate to your purchase after it's completed . Threadless Gift Certificates can be used on Threadless, Threadless Kids, Type Tees, and the Select Series sites.

How To Give?
During checkout, enter your email address so you can receive the email confirmation. In the confirmation email, click on the "Send it to a Friend" link. You'll be given the option to either print out the gift certificate and give it to the recipient -OR- enter their email address and have the gift certificate emailed to them. Do not enter the recipient's email address during checkout or they will receive your order confirmation!

How long are the gift certificates good for?
Gift certificates expire five years from the issue date.

Can I use the gift certificate incrementally?
Yes, gift certificates may be used for multiple orders. For example, if you have a $25 gift certificate and only use $20 of it, the additional $5 can be used at a later date.

Are the gift certificates refundable?
No, all gift certificates are non-refundable.

Will I be sent a physical gift certificate?
No, our gift certificates are electronic. The gift certificate codes are sent via email, but they can be printed. If you forwarded the gift certificate to the recipient, but they did not receive it, email us and we can show you how to resend the gift certificate email.
How do I place my order?
It's quite simple really!
  1. Browse through the site until you find the item you wish to purchase.

  2. From the product page, select the size you'd like to buy. You can click "Checkout" to place your order or "Continue Shopping" to add the tee to your cart and keep shopping for more.

    You may also add items to your cart from the Stock Chart.

  3. Once you've added all the items that you wish to purchase to your cart, you can begin the checkout process. This process involves 5 steps; Review Your Order, Shipping Information, Shipping Method, Billing Information, and Place Your Order. You'll then receive an order confirmation email. When your order has shipped, you will receive a final email stating so.


PLEASE NOTE: Tees are only held for you once you place an order. Adding a tee to your cart does not guarantee that you'll be able to purchase it at a later date. It's possible for an item to sell out while in your cart.
Is the site secure?
Any personal information given to Threadless through Threadless, Threadless Kids, Type Tees, the Select Series, and and Twitter Tees by Threadless will be protected. Any Personally Identifiable Information will not be disclosed to any third parties. Any Threadless server will secure your personal information with up-to-date firewall and encryption techniques during the ordering process.

In order to protect customers to the fullest extent, Threadless does not store your credit card information at any time.

To assist you in recognizing secure areas of the Threadless.com website, a small lock icon will appear in the lower right-hand corner of your web browser. When this icon is present, and in the locked position, you know that information on that page will be secured.

Added online security to protect your personal information from unauthorized use is provided by using advanced SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption.
How do I check my order status?
If you have a user account and were logged in when you placed your order, you can track your order status by logging in and accessing the "Account" link from the site header. All orders placed under your username will be visible under the "My Orders" tab.

You can also go to the Order Status page and enter your order number, email address, and billing zip/post code. Make sure to enter this information it was entered when the order was placed. Another way to pull up your order status is to enter your full name and the first 4 AND last 4 digits of the credit card number used to place the order.

If you're unable to pull up your order, email us and let us know what information you are entering in which fields and we can check it for correctness.
Why are some tees out of stock?
Our tees are printed in limited quantity batches. We do this for a couple of reasons. We know your tees are special to you and we want to keep them that way. To do that, we make sure the tees are available on a limited edition basis. Also, we want to focus more efforts on introducing new tees into our stock rather than restocking old designs. We know that there are some designs worth bringing back so in those cases. When enough people want to see a design again, we print it again!
How do I use a coupon or gift certificate?
You can enter a coupon or gift certificate code during the third step of the checkout process along with billing information. Under "Billing Information", there's a field to enter a coupon code or gift certificate code. Click "Apply" to deduct the coupon amount from your order total. If the coupon amount exceeds the order total, the balance will remain on the coupon or gift certificate code to be used on future orders.

Email us if you have any problems using a coupon or gift certificate code. We will not be able to retroactively apply codes to orders already placed.

How do I pay for my order?
We only accept Credit or Debit Cards for payment.

Cards accepted are Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Only Debit Cards backed by a Credit Card company listed above (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) can be accepted. We don't accept Switch, Electron, Maestro and some other international debit cards. Credit Card gift cards are also not an accepted form of payment.

Our website features an SSL secure connection during the transaction keeping your information secure and private. Please note that the charge on your statement will appear "Threadless.com".
How do I cancel or make changes to my order?
If you need to make changes to your order, you can cancel your order and place it again.

To cancel your order, go to the Order Status page and enter your order#, email address, and billing zip. Make sure to enter your zip just as you entered it when you placed the order. If you didn't enter anything in this field during checkout, you can leave this blank.

It's a good idea to double-check the order number from your initial email confirmation. Shipment numbers, which are sent in the shipping confirmation email, are different from order numbers. Make sure to enter the billing zip/post code just as you entered it when you placed the order. If you entered something other than the post code (such as the city name) in this field during checkout, be sure to enter that info instead of your zip. Don't include any extra spaces or characters.

Once you pull up your order, you'll be given the option to cancel. Your card or payment option will be reimbursed and you can go ahead and place another order.

If you aren't able to pull up your order, just email us . Changes can only be made if your request is answered before your order is processed. Depending on demand, we may or may not be able to make your requested change. Once your order is processed or shipped, no changes can be made.

PLEASE NOTE: If you don't see the "Cancel" button while viewing your order status, chances are your order has been opened for processing and changes can no longer be made. In this case, feel free to return your items for a refund or exchange.
How do I add items to my order?
We're unable to add to any order since we don't store credit card information. You'll have to place a new order for any additional items. If your order is still new, just cancel your order and place it again.
How do StreetTeam points work?
To Earn
Points are given for submitting a photo to the gallery or linking to Threadless and referring a sale. 1 point is awarded for photos and 2 points for referrals. Points are awarded on a per order basis, not per tee. The referral must be placed using the URL: www.threadless.com/?streetteam=YOURUSERNAME.

If the link is not used, the points will not be awarded. For more information, visit our StreetTeam page.

You will not be awarded points for placing orders using your own link.

To Use
You can apply StreetTeam points during the third step of the checkout process along with billing information. Under "Billing Information", there's a section stating the amount of StreetTeam points you have. Each StreetTeam point is worth $1.50. In the field given, select the number of points to apply to the order and click 'Apply'. The amount of the StreetTeam points will be deducted from the order total. If you have more StreetTeam points than the order total, just click 'Apply'. The right amount of StreetTeam points will be credited to your order to cover the total. Any unused points will remain in your account to be used in the future.
How does a reprint request work?
There is a link on the product page that says "Size sold out? Help get this tee reprinted (we'll email you if it does)!" You can sign up for a reprint request by clicking this link and submitting your email address. We'll send you an email notification letting you know when the design is available again.

We only reprint designs after they receive a certain amount of requests from all of the users. If we ever reprint one of your requested tees you'll receive an email stating so. Some designs you have requested may never be reprinted while others are reprinted quickly, so make sure you're signed up for the Threadless newsletter where you'll be notified if and when reprints happen.
How do I become a vendor?
All stores carrying our items must first go thru the application process to become an approved vendor. To start the application process, check out our vendor section . All vendors must complete the necessary paperwork and be approved by us before becoming a qualified vendor. Once your vendor status is approved, you'll be able to order at the vendor price with a minimum order of 24 items.
Can I combine orders?
Unfortunately we're unable to combine orders placed separately. Each order placed will be sent separately. If you're looking to combine items from different sites into one order, please visit this FAQ for more information.
What are Select tees?
All Select Series designs are commissioned by leaders in the field of design on an invite only basis. The Select line was created by Threadless as a way to put well known designers side-by-side with up-and-comers. Due to increase in popularity, the Select Series branched off from Threadless to it's own project. Though it is still connected. Any Threadless designer who wins the competition 4 or more times will be invited to design a Select Series Tee.

Select tees are an exclusive, anything-goes tee shirt canvas. You can find all Select tees by going to the Full Catalog and browsing by the Select line.

Can I stop by your warehouse and buy stuff?
Of course! Drop in and pick up tees, prints, or any other items! We're here 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and are located at 4043 N Ravenswood Ave. # 106.

There is no need to place an order. You stop by, pick out the items you want online, and pay for them here. We don't accept cash, so you'll need to bring a credit card!

PLEASE NOTE: We may need to close earlier than expected a few days out of the year. If you're traveling from a distance, we recommend calling ahead of time to make sure we'll be here to help you.
Why has no one has responded to my emails to Customer Service?
Most likely we've received your email and have responded. Some email providers mark our emails as spam or completely block them. Check your spam folder to see if our response is there. It may also be a good idea to add service@threadless.com to your contacts so future emails are not blocked. If you ordered from Twitter Tees by Threadless, please add service@twitter.threadless.com

During sales or peak demand times, our customer service may be a bit backed up. If you sent an email and haven't heard back from us after 3 business days, feel free to send a follow up email.
Can I change my username?
Sorry, we're unable to change usernames. If you no longer want the one you have, you'll need to cancel your current account and sign up for a new one.

Certainly. Login and go to your account page. Scroll to the very bottom of the page to find the 'Cancel Your Account' option. We'll be sad to see you go!

How can I look up my order number?
If you aren't able to find your order confirmation email with your order number, go to the Order Status page to pull up your order information. Enter the name on the order and the first four and last four digits of the credit card used to place the order to look up your order information. Enter the numbers as shown below without any extra spaces:

Can I change the size or address of my 12 Club Subscription?
Of course! If you need to change your address, email us your order number and your updated address. Make sure to do it before the month's teet is shipped or it may be sent to your old address. If you don't update your address with us prior to an address change, and your order is lost as a result, we will not be able to replace it. Be sure to keep us updated so you get every month's tee!

We can also change the tee size in your subscription. Email us your order number and what size you would like your future tees to be. Again, make sure to do it before the current month's tee is shipped or you may get the wrong size again.
Do you accept PayPal as a form of payment?
Unfortunately we have no immediate plans to offer PayPal as a payment option. PayPal is not supported by our merchant account and also does not offer the level of fraud protection we require.

However if you have a PayPal debit card, we do accept those. The PayPal debit card acts like a debit card from your bank, but instead of debiting the money from your bank account, it debits from your PayPal account or backup source. If you want to use your PayPal account to order and don't have this card, you should check it out. Just login to your PayPal account and click on 'Products and Services' and go to the link for the PayPal Debit Card.

Accepting payments straight from your PayPal account is not an option currently, but this may change sometime in the future.
Can I place an order online and pick it up at your warehouse?
If you place an order online, it must be shipped. If you want to pick up your order, come into our warehouse and place an order here for pick up. We're located at 4043 N Ravenswood Ave. # 106 Chicago, IL and are here Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm. We accept the same forms of payment for walk-ins as we do on the site. Sorry, no cash.
What is a Special Order?
If a design has been especially popular in its first week, we may choose to print another edition to satisfy the demand. It is then considered a special order item.

If you special order a design, it should take about 2 to 4 weeks for the item to ship. Keep in mind, this does not include the shipping time. Your card will be charged when you place your order, not when the special order item is shipped. If you purchase other items with a special order item, your other items will be shipped as normal and will not be delayed.

The special order feature was introduced to ensure anyone who wants a new design in its first week will be able to get it. It also allows the designer to make an additional $500 immediately on a reprint while the demand is high.


Will a Special Order item cause other items in my order to be delayed?
No, the other items in your order will ship as normal. Only the special ordered item(s) will be delayed and will be shipped as soon as they become available- typically within 2 to 4 weeks from the order date.
How do I send my order as a gift?
To send your order as a gift, just check the box next to the question 'Is this order being sent as a gift?' during the first step of the checkout process.

When an order is sent as a gift, you'll be given the option to include a personalized message and the prices and billing information will be hidden on the gift invoice. Since the billing information is not included in the shipment, be sure to include who the gift is from in the personalized message.

We will not be able to change your order to gift status after it's placed, so be sure to select this option before you complete the order.

PLEASE NOTE: For international gift shipments, regular customs fees may still apply.
Was my order placed if I wasn't sent a confirmation email?
If you completed all the steps of the checkout process and submitted an order but didn't receive an email confirmation, your order probably placed. Don't place your order again because it may result in a duplicate shipment.

Check your spam folder for the confirmation email. If you can't find it, go to the Order Status page to try locating your order. Enter your billing name as you entered it in the order and the first 4 and last 4 digits of your credit card number.

If you were signed into your User Account when the order was placed, you can go to the "My Orders" tab on your Account page and the order should be in your order history.

If you aren't able to locate your order with any of these options or would like us to complete an order search for you, feel free to email us.

To avoid any emails marked as spam, be sure to add Threadless to your email safe list in the future.
Can I combine items from the different sites?
Yes! You can certainly purchase tees from more than one site and have the items shipped together. Any item purchased from Threadless, Type Tees, Select Series, and Threadless Kids will automatically be added to the same cart.

If the carts are separate on each site, clear your computer's cookies. You'll need to completely clear your cookies, not just the cookies for Threadless.com. Please be aware that clearing your cookies will also remove the items from your cart.

Once separate orders are placed, we will not be to combine them.
What currency is used on the site?
All prices are in United States Dollars (USD).
Why was an item removed from my shopping cart?
If an item is removed from your shopping cart, it has sold out. Placing an item in your shopping cart does not save it for you.
How do I make changes to items in my shopping cart?
To add an item to your cart, go to the item on the product page. Select the size you want and click 'Checkout' or 'Continue Shopping.'

To delete an item from your cart, go to the shopping cart and click the 'Remove' button next to the item you no longer want.

To change the quantity of an item, add the item to your cart. Enter the number you want for that particular item and click update. Your order total will be adjusted.
Can I get my order gift-wrapped?
Sorry, we don't offer gift-wrapping. You can mark your order as a gift and that will remove the prices from the invoice and allow you to include a personalized note.
Do you accept International orders?
You betcha. We ship almost everywhere in the world. To find out if we ship to your country, place an item in your cart and continue to the Shipping section of the Checkout process. Open the 'Country' pull-down menu in the Shipping Address section. If your country is included in that list, we're able to ship to you. If your country is not included, we will not be able to fill your order. You could have a friend from another country order for you and forward the shipment to you.
Why was I charged sales tax?
Since we have operations in both Illinois and Colorado, we're required to collect sales tax for all orders placed in those states.
When will my card be charged?
Your card is charged when your order is placed.
Why is there a transaction on my card when my card was declined?
Your card is not charged when it's declined, though it may appear so. When a card is declined, the funds intended for the order are temporarily held by your bank. Since the order was never processed, the money will not be taken from your account. The held funds will automatically disappear after a certain amount of time, usually within just a few days, depending on your bank.
Why are there two charges to my card?
If you only placed one order, there will only be one charge to your card. There may temporarily be two transactions on your card- one is the authorization and one is the charge for your order. The authorization will disappear after just a few days.
How does the currency conversion work for international orders?
All prices on the site are in United States Dollars (USD). When your order is placed, the order total is also in USD. When it's charged to your card, your card company will convert the total to your country's currency at the currency rate when it's processed. If you need to be refunded, the refund will be processed at the current currency rate. This may differ from the rate when your card was charged. Your card company may charge additional fees for conversion. Please contact them for more details.
Is my credit card info secure?
You bet. We don't store any credit card information. When you complete your order on our site, you'll notice the lock icon in the address bar, and you'll also notice the http become https. The s and the lock means you're on a secure server.
Can I use a Gift Certificate to buy another Gift Certificate?
Sorry, gift certificates can only be purchased by credit or debit card or with StreetTeam points.
Am I eligible for the sale price if an item I purchased goes on sale?
Depending on the sale or promotion, certain items may be eligible for a price adjustment. Please email us to see if your order or items are eligible. If eligible, the price difference will be issue in the form of a Threadless credit. No refunds are given for price differences.
How do I extend my 12 Club Subscription?
To extend your 12 Club subscription, replace your order the month your subscription ends. If your last tee shirt will be the April tee, place a new order for another year's subscription sometime from April 1st to April 30th. The first tee of your new subscription will be the following month- in this example- the May tee. If you forget to renew your subscription in time and miss a month's tee, we will not be able to send the missed tee.
How do I add an order to my account?
Just email us your order number and your username (information must match) and we'll add it to your account history.
How do I view my order history in my account?
Login and click on the 'Account' link on the home page. On the Account page, click on the 'My Orders' tab and all the orders you placed while logged into your user account will be displayed. If you placed orders and were not logged in, send us an email with your order number and username and we will add it to your history.
How old do you have to be to join Threadless?
You must be at least 13 years old to sign up for a Threadless user account.
How do I open an account?
You can open an account here. Enter in your desired username. Be sure to be creative and find something you like. Once you've settled on a username, enter your real name, email address, password, birth date, and country. You can also choose to join our weekly newsletter about new designs, sales, and other super fun stuff. Once you submit your info, you'll be emailed an activation email. Follow the instructions in the email to activate your account. If you don't receive an email, check your spam folder and if nothing is there, email us.
How do I activate my account?
When you submit your user info, you should receive an activation email almost immediately. Follow the instructions in the email to activate your account. If you don't receive an email, check your spam folder and if nothing is there, email us.
How do I update personal info in my account?
Login to your account. The first tab in your profile is "Edit Your Profile". Click on that link and you can edit anything in your account- name, email address, password, url, etc. Once you've made the necessary updates, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Save Changes".
How do I change my profile picture?
Login to your account and go to "Your Profile" on the top right hand side of the page. Click on the link that says "Upload a Picture". Click Browse to find the photo you'd like to use and click Upload for it to be added as your profile pic. Your previous profile picture will be replaced with the newly uploaded one.
Why did some points get deducted from my account?
Points are deducted from your account if a referred order is cancelled. When the order is cancelled, the two points are deducted from the referrer's account.
Why does my order have more than one order number?
Your order will have at least two different numbers. One number is your order number. The other number(s) is your shipment number. If you place an order and all your items are shipped in one shipment, you'll have one order number and one shipment number. If your order contains items that require separate shipments, you will have one order number and one shipment number for each shipment. The order number references the whole purchase while the shipment number references just that shipment.
Can I buy a tee shirt of a design submission?
Sorry, only tees that win the contest and are available for purchase in our catalog are for sale. Submissions that were not chosen to be printed cannot be purchased.
When's your next sale?
We randomly have sales throughout the year, but we can't give you any more details than that! Sign up for our newsletter and we'll let you know of sales when they happen.
How can I search for something on the site?
On the top right-hand side of the Threadless home page, you'll find a Google search option. Enter the keyword in the field provided. If you would like to refine your search to specific categories, you can click on 'Search Options' and choose to search Products, Blogs, Users, Submissions, or the entire site.
Can I buy a sold-out item?
Unfortunately if an item is sold-out, it's not currently available for sale. However, we reprint in demand designs every week, based on the reprint requests. To find out how to submit a reprint request for an out of stock item, please see this FAQ.
Can you send me a catalog of your designs?
Sorry, we don't have a mail catalog since items are constantly moving in and out of stock. You can find all available items in our online catalog.

Why was my card declined?
Your card could be declined for several reasons. Make sure the card number, expiration date, and security code are entered correctly. Also be sure the card you're using is one we accept.

Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express

We Do Not Accept:
Switch, Electron, Maestro (and some other international debit cards), Credit Card Gift Cards

Also check to see if there are sufficient funds available on the card and that the billing address matches the card being used.
Can I place a phone or mail order?
Sorry, orders can only be placed online. Rest assured, our online checkout process is secure and no credit card information is stored.
How can I print my order receipt?
Pull up your order information on the order status page (see FAQ for more info) and print the order page. If you received the order confirmation email, you can also print this for your records. A copy of the order invoice will also be included in the shipment.
Do you need an account to place an order?
Nope, you can place an order without being a member. If you do sign up to be a member (It's FREE!), you can create a profile, score submissions, submit designs, participate on the blogs, store your order history, and submit gallery pictures for points. You can also earn points by recommending people to the site. (Visit our StreetTeam page for more info.)
What happens if I forgot my username/password?
If you forgot your username and/or password, you can request it here. On the lower right hand side, it says "Forgot Your Password?". Submit the email address associated with your account and we'll send you an email with your username and new password. Once you receive the email, login and go to your account page. Scroll to the bottom of the page where it says "Change your Password". Enter your current password and the password you'd like to have. Be sure to reset the password to something you'll remember!
What should I do if the site says I don't have a user account, but I've placed an order in the past?
Placing an order or receiving the newsletter does not mean you have a user account. You would've had to open an account separately when you placed your order or signed up for the newsletter. You can open one here.
Why was my order declined?
Your order could be declined for two reasons: if your item is out of stock or if there are billing issues with the information you entered. In either situation, we will send you an email notification. If your order was declined and you didn't receive an email with an explanation from us, email us for more information.
Why was an item in my order highlighted and not included in the shipment?
Unfortunately that means an item in your order was not available when we processed it. You should've received an email notification informing you of the situation and the refund. If you didn't receive this information, email us and we can provide you with a copy of it.
Why haven't I received my order or shipping confirmation email?
If you didn't receive an order confirmation, don't place your order again. You can check your order status to see if your order exists or email us to see if we can locate your order information. Be sure to provide the full name on the order, email address, and first 4 and last 4 digits of the card used.
How will I be refunded if I cancel an order?
If you cancel an order, you 'll be reimbursed in the original form of payment. If you paid by credit card, you'll be refunded the same amount back to your credit card. If you used a coupon, Gift Certificate, or StreeTeam points, email us with your order number and we'll reissue the code/points.
What can I do if I haven't received my order yet?
Let's hope luck is on our side and as you 'e reading this, your order is being delivered to your address. Fingers crossed!

If you are not so lucky, here is some information to help you find your order.

First, check your order information to make sure it was shipped to the correct address and contact your neighbors to see if the order was misdelivered. Determine the expected delivery time for your order (see this FAQ) and if it's past the time frame given, see below.

If you placed a Domestic (US) order:

UPS: Check the tracking number issued when the order was placed. If your tracking number has not updated in several days or if it shows the order as delivered, but you did not receive it, email us and we'll start an investigation with UPS.

Postal: This shipping method typically takes 5-8 days to be delivered, but can take up to 20 days. Bad weather or local post office congestion can cause a delay. If you still don't have your order after 20 days, check with your local post to see if they're holding your order and email us if they're unable to find it.

If you placed an International (non-US) order:

UPS Expedited or UPS Express- Check the tracking number issued when the order was placed. If your tracking number has not updated in several days or if it shows the order was delivered, but you did not receive it, email us and we'll start an investigation with UPS. If the tracking hasn't updated in several days, but the last update is regarding "CUSTOMS" or "CLEARANCE", your order is being held at the customs office. Contact UPS to arrange delivery.
What should I do if I didn't receive the Gift Certificate order confirmation?
If you didn't receive the Gift Certificate order confirmation, don't place your order again. You can check your order status to see if your order exists or email us to see if we can locate your order information. Be sure to provide the full name on the order, email address, and first 4 and last 4 digits of the card used.

If you're able to locate your order through the order status tool, you can send the gift certificate to the intended recipient by using this link: www.threadless.com/sendgift/XXXXXXXXXXXXXX . Replace the X's with the coupon code. The coupon code can be found under 'Description' in the 'Items in your Order' section. It will be a combination of letters and numbers.

If your gift certificate code is 1A2B3C4D5E, enter the url www.threadless.com/sendgift/1A2B3C4D5E . That url will bring you to the page where you'll have the option to either email the gift certificate or print it out to give.
What should I do if I don't receive the Account Activation email?
Email us with your username and email address used to create the account and we'll activate it for you. Be sure to check your spam first. Likely the email was received and marked as spam.

    Why does my tracking number not work?
    In most cases, that means your order was just shipped. Tracking numbers can take up to 72 hours to be updated. Check back in 24 hours and the information should be updated.
    Why was my order charged a customs fee when it was delivered?
    Any international order may incur a customs fee. The shipping step of the checkout process states that all international orders may incur customs fees and additional fees. These fees are being charged by your government, not our site. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we have no control over the customs authorities in your country or any other. Contact your local customs office for more information about customs fees, duties, and taxes.
    How does Postal shipping work?
    We use Mail Innovations for the Domestic Postal option. Mail Innovations is a service provided by UPS. UPS picks up your order from our warehouse, sorts it, applies the necessary postage, and hands it off to your local post office. USPS will deliver your order, not UPS, so this option is used for PO Boxes and APO addresses. Tracking information is not available for Postal shipments

    This postal option is similar to First Class mail, so it can take longer to arrive than the UPS shipping method.

    Most postal shipments take 5-8 days to arrive. However if there are any local office delays, routing issues, or bad weather, it may take up to 20 days. If your order doesn't arrive within three weeks from the ship date, email us.
    How does Global Postal shipping work?
    We use Mail Innovations for the International Postal option. Mail Innovations is a service provided by UPS. UPS picks up your order from our warehouse, sorts it, applies the necessary postage, and handles the order until it reaches your country. Once the order arrives in your country, it is handed off to your local post office for delivery. UPS does not deliver the order.

    Postal Economy should take 1-3 weeks to be delivered and Postal Priority typically takes 5-10 days. Any postal international order can encounter delays while in transit, so it's possible to take up to 5 weeks for an order to be delivered. Unfortunately, tracking information is not available for Postal shipments. The ship times given are estimates and not guaranteed.

    How are Art Prints packaged?
    All prints are rolled along with a layer of tissue paper then placed into a plastic bag. The bag is then placed into a thick cardboard shipping tube. The packaging has been tested for durability to deter damage.

    Prints are shipped separately from tees. If you place a combination order of prints and tees, you'll receive a shipping notification for each portion of your order.

    When will my order arrive via UPS Next Day or 2 Day?
    For express domestic orders, we do offer UPS Next Day and UPS 2 Day shipping. UPS Next Day will arrive the next business day after the ship date. UPS 2 Day will arrive 2 business days after the ship date.

    Some processing time may apply. For the most part, express orders will be shipped within 3 business days from the date the order is placed.

    UPS 2 Day and Next Day deliveries are only made during the business week. Deliveries will NOT be made on Saturday or Sunday or holidays. If an order is shipped Friday UPS Next Day, it will arrive on Monday. If that Monday is a holiday, it will arrive on Tuesday.
    When will my order arrive via UPS Expedited or UPS Express Saver?
    For express international orders, we offer UPS Express Saver and UPS Expedited. UPS Express Saver shipping will arrive within 1-3 business days after the ship date. UPS Expedited shipping will arrive 2-5 business days after the ship date. Delays may occur at the customs office that are out of UPS control. In these situations, the ship time is no longer guaranteed.

    Some processing time may apply. Most UPS Expedited and Express orders will ship within 3 business days from the date the order is placed.

    UPS Expedited and Express deliveries are only made during the business week. Deliveries will NOT be made on Saturday or Sunday or holidays.     Why has only part of my order shipped?
    If your order contains a Special Order item or is a mixture of tees, prints, or art panels, your items will be shipped separately. Your Special Order item will be shipped within 2 to 4 weeks after your order is placed. If you ordered prints or a panel in addition to tees, your prints/panel will be shipped shortly after the tee portion of your order unless otherwise indicated. You'll receive a separate shipping notification and tracking number if applicable.
    Why was I charged more than one shipping charge?
    Some items are required to ship separately (i.e. Prints are shipped separate from tees, Special Orders are shipped separately from other order items). If your order has multiple shipments, each shipment will have its own shipping charge.
    How do I have an order shipped to a PO/APO/AE Box?
    In the shipping information section of the checkout process, enter your shipping information for your PO Box address. Under the "Address 2" field, there is a question that says "Is this address a PO, APO, or AE Box?". Select "Yes" from the drop down menu and continue to the next page- Shipping Method. By selecting "Yes", you'll be offered the Postal (USPS delivered) shipping option.
    Do you offer bulk shipping discounts?
    We don't offer discounts for bulk shipments. However, the more tees in an order, the less the shipping charge will be per item.
    How can I avoid paying customs fees?
    We know that the customs office is not a fun place, but we also need to follow their rules and fill out all customs forms properly by marking the package correctly and including the value of the tees. If we don't fill out the forms this way, we risk having the shipment returned to us or being prohibited from shipping to that country.


    When you select the Gift option during checkout that does not mean the Gift box is checked on the customs form . Please be aware that shipments sent as gifts may still be charged customs fees.


    To find out how not to be charged customs fees, contact your local customs office for more information. Most countries allow up to a certain value of goods into the country without any additional duties and taxes.

    Who designs the Threadless product?
    You do!

    Threadless.com is an on-going tee shirt design competition. Anyone can submit a design! If it's scored highly by the community and is chosen by the Threadless to be printed, it will be available for sale on the site.

    All Threadless designs are a result of the competition, so even if you aren't a designer you can still make a significant contribution to our tee selection by scoring designs! Ready, Set, Score! .
    What are the washing instructions?
    The instructions are as follows:
    Machine wash cold. Wash dark colors separately. Use non-chlorine bleach only if needed. Tumble dry low. Do not iron decoration. Do not dry clean if decorated.

    If the tee was printed using specialty inks- Glow in the Dark, Foil, Felt, etc, washing inside out helps preserve the ink.

    The tees are primarily 100% cotton tee shirts so expect some shrinkage. To lessen this, try hang drying your tees.
    What are the Threadless Custom Tees made from?
    The Threadless Custom Tees are made of 100% cotton. For softness, we use a combed, single jersey material. The tees are not pre-shrunk so be sure to select a size to accommodate some shrinkage.
    What kind of paper is used for the Art Prints?
    All Threadless Prints are hand-screened on top quality paper from the French Paper Company (http://www.mrfrench.com/). On each product page you'll notice the exact paper type, i.e. 65# Cover Pop-Tone, 65# Cover Glo-Tone, 80# Cover Construction. The higher the number, the thicker the paper type; though all are printed on a thick stock. All prints have a matte finish.
    Why are there Threadless Custom and American Apparel tees?
    When we got the opportunity to make our own private label tee, we jumped at the chance. In addition to the Threadless Custom tees, we are also printing on American Apparel tees for some designs.

    On every product page, there will be a note indicating what type of tee the design is printed on along with a link to the size chart.The sizing is a bit different for each brand. Check out our size chart so you can see the difference in sizes and find out which size is right for you!
    Where are your Tees made?
    We use Threadless Custom and American Apparel tees. The American Apparel tees are made in the US, while Custom tees are made in the US and Bangladesh.

    All Threadless Custom Hoodies, Long Sleeve tee shirts, and Kids & Baby items are all made in the US. Most of the short sleeve tees are made in Bangladesh.

    The tees made overseas are manufactured in an updated facility built in 1996. This facility is not a sweatshop. We have confirmed the labor conditions are 100% up to US standards. The manufacturing plant we are using is also a part of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association and a member of the Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production Group .

    All screen printing is done in the US.
    How do I know what size I wear?
    The measurements on the size chart are of the tee shirt, not your body, so we recommend measuring a tee that fits you well. To determine the width, measure just under the armholes on one side of the garment. To determine the length, measure from the shoulder seam to the bottom seam of the tee. Be sure to add 0.5 to 1 inch on both measurements to account for shrinkage. Compare your measurements to the size chart to see what size best suits you.

    All tees may vary up to one inch (industry standard) from the measurements stated on the size chart.
    What is your Return Policy?
    We want you to love what you order. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, please return the item(s) for an exchange, refund or credit. All returns must be made within 60 days of placing your order. We don't accept returns or exchanges after the 60 day period.

    Please fill out the return form found on the back of the invoice from your order. If you no longer have it you can get it here: Return Form

    Indicate what you're returning and why. Please let us know if you would like to return your item(s) for an exchange, refund, or Threadless credit. In order to process your return, please include your name, email address and order number along with the items that you're returning.You'll be responsible for the shipping charges associated with sending the return back to us.

    If you're asking for an exchange, we'll send your replacement item(s) at no charge. If the item(s) you request is not available when the return is processed, we will issue you Threadless credit instead. If you do not want the credit, you can email us and change it out for a refund or a different item(s). If you're asking for a refund, you'll only be reimbursed for the item(s) returned. The original shipping cost is non-refundable.

    Where can I print out the Return Form?

    Do I have to pay to send back a wrong or defective item?
    If you received a defective or wrong item, we'll reimburse you for the return shipping. Please include the shipping receipt and send it back to us. With the receipt included, we'll reimburse you for the cost of shipping the item back to us via regular mail. Unfortunately, we will not reimburse for express shipping, so be sure to send it back via regular mail. The original shipping cost is non-refundable.
    How do I know if my return has been processed?
    Returns can take 1-2 weeks to be processed once we receive them. Be sure to also factor in the ship time for your return to be delivered to us. When your return is processed, we'll send you a notification email. If you believe your return should've been processed, but never received a notification, check your spam folder to make sure the email didn't get marked as spam.

    Can I exchange my online purchase at the retail store?
    Sorry, online purchases cannot be returned at the store. However, if you're in the area, we can process your return at our warehouse if you don't want to ship it. Our warehouse is located at 4043 N. Ravenswood Ave. # 106 and we're open Monday though Friday 9am to 5pm.
    How do exchanges work?
    We basically have an even exchange policy- one tee for one tee. If you purchased tees during a sale and would like to exchange them after the sale, you will not be charged the post-sale price difference as long as the tee you're exchanging for is within a few dollars of the original purchase price - or you're exchanging for the same design in a different size.


    If you'd like to exchange for a tee of a higher price, please include your credit card number so we can charge you for the difference. Additionally, you will not be refunded for any price difference if you are exchanging for a lower value tee. If you would like the price difference, we recommend returning for a refund or Threadless credit and placing a separate order for the lower priced items.


    If you opt for a refund or store credit, it will be in the amount you paid for the items.
    What if I request an out of stock item in an exchange?
    If the item you request is out of stock when the exchange is processed, you'll be issued Threadless credit instead. If you don't want Threadless credit, we recommend including a second choice on the return form.

    Please note: Threadless credit can be used on Threadless, Threadless Kids, Type Tees, the Select Series, and Twitter Tees by Threadless.
    How do I return a gift?
    If you'd like to return a gift and have the return form and order number, fill out the return form as instructed for returns and exchanges. Let us know the item was a gift and include your email address and shipping address. We'll update the order information so the return notification is emailed to you and any exchange items are shipped to your address.

    If you do not have the order number, email us with the email address and name of the person who sent you the gift as well as the size and item(s) you'd like to return.
    How do I score submissions?
    To score submissions, you simply need to join the Threadless community, navigate to the "Score Submissions" section and begin scoring. Score each tee on a scale of 0-5 (0 being bad). The system will keep track of which tees you have scored so when you come back you'll be all ready to score new designs. There's also a checkbox when scoring to "I'd buy". This is just another tool we use to gauge the response to the tees. You will not be required to purchase the design if it wins.
    Can I have my design removed from the site after 90 days?
    Sure thing, as long as it's not a winning design of course. Just email us and let us know which design(s) you'd like removed from the site. Once the design is removed, you'll be free to do whatever you'd like with it.
    How are the winning submissions chosen?
    We look at the top 300 designs every couple of weeks and pick out designs that we want to print based off of the design's overall score, comments, the number of "I'd Buy It!" scores, and of course, its general awesomeness. Ultimately the decision of which designs are printed is left up to us. The scoring system helps give us a general idea of which designs our customers want.
    Do I keep the rights to my artwork?
    If we choose to print a design, the designer is giving us exclusive rights to print and sell it on apparel and wall graphics. All other mediums are open for the designer to use the design. We will not use a design unless the designer has been reimbursed for its use. The legal terms for design submission can be found here . The legal terms must be accepted before any design is submitted to the competition.
    How do I submit to the photo gallery?

    Can I submit a design from outside the USA?
    You certainly can! The only requirements are that you live on planet Earth, are over 13 years old, and are a Threadless member. Create a member account here.
    What do I receive for a winning design?
    Designers who are printed earn $2,000 and a $500 gift certificate (the $500 gift certificate can be exchanged for an additional $200 cash). You'll also become a member of the Threadless Alumni Club, which includes a package of goodies and access to a members-only section of the blog forum! Your printed design will also be eligible for up to $20,000 in the annual Bestees Awards.
    How are designers paid for winning submissions?
    Payment is made by check or via PayPal.
    Why was my head/tee cropped out of the gallery photo?
    It probably means your photo is too big. Make sure the photo is 380 x 272 pixels and 72 dpi. Anything larger will be automatically cropped and may result in a headless photo.
    Where can I find my Critiques?
    You can find your critiques in both the Critiques Section of the blog forum (labeled with the green tab) and in your profile under the 'Critiques' tab.
    How long does it take for a submission to be up for voting?
    After a design is submitted, it may be pending approval for 4-9 days before it is available for voting.
    Can I resubmit a design if I'm not happy with the score?
    You're always welcome to resubmit a design, but we require that significant changes be made before resubmitting. Color changes or placement changes are not considered significant.
    What are Critiques?
    The critiques section is a great tool for designers to use while in the process of creating their design. It's a way to refine the design before submitting based on feedback from other voters and designers.
    What does 5$ mean?
    5$ is Threadless speak for "I rate this design 5 out of 5 and I'd buy it if it were printed". It's like the gold medal of scores!
    Can I submit a design as a print instead of a tee?
    All designs must be submitted as intended for use on a tee. Currently we only print designs as tees and prints, not prints only. You may show your design as it would look as a print, but that's optional.
    Why doesn't my profile reflect the designs I just scored?
    No need to re-vote. Your scores are being counted. The browser just hasn't updated yet. Try clearing your browser's cache and it should reflect your vote.
    What is a Loves Challenge?
    Loves are themed design challenges. In conjunction with off-site sponsors (such as bands, magazines, and events), designers are challenged to create a tee based on a theme. The chosen design is picked by a panel of judges including the Threadless staff and representatives from the challenge sponsor(s). The designer that wins not only receives the Threadless prize, but additional goodies from the sponsor(s).
    Do I have to design according to a Loves Challenge theme?
    Your design only needs to be on theme if you're submitting to the Loves Challenge. If you're submitting to the regular submissions category, your design can be whatever you'd like.
    What are Bestees?
    The Bestees are Threadless' annual design awards. The awards include:

    1. Design of the Year
    2. Designer of the Year
    3. Blogger of the Year

    ...and many others!

    There are other awards for printed and unprinted designers, critiques, gallery photos, sloganeers, and bloggers. Most awards come with a trophy/medal and cash, giving you the chance to win up to $20,000!
    Can I send you a picture of someone famous in a Threadless Tee?
    Certainly! You can send any sightings here!
    What should I do if I'm having trouble submitting a photo?
    Submit gallery pics here. Follow the instructions on the picture submission page. Make sure you have at least ¾ of your face visible as well as the tee. Do not submit a hi-res pic and be aware your photo will be cropped to 380 x 272 pixels after its submitted.


    Select the design you're wearing from the drop down menu. Then, click 'Browse' to find the photo you'd like to upload. Once you've selected the design and added it, click 'Upload & Preview'. On the next page, you may need to confirm your order details. If so, you'll need to enter the Order Number, Billing Post Code, and Email Address associated with the design you are submitting. Make sure you enter the Order Number, not the Shipment Number, and the Billing Post Code and Email Address that match the original order exactly. Different capitalization, spelling errors, or extra spaces will keep your picture submission from being successful. If you continue to encounter issues submitting a gallery picture, email us for more help.
    How many StreetTeam points do I get for submitting a gallery photo?
    Each gallery photo earns one StreetTeam point, which equals $1.50 and can be used to buy Threadless merchandise. If your photo is super amazing, it may be chosen to be in the product catalog. If that happens, you earn ten points, which is worth $15.00!
    Why is the gallery photo page asking me for my order number and postal code?
    If the system doesn't recognize the tee as one that you ordered, you'll be asked to confirm that you bought the tee. Be sure to enter the order number, not the shipping number and the billing post code, not the shipping post code.
    Can I submit a gallery photo of a tee I bought in the store or received as a gift?
    Only purchases made online, not from the store, are eligible to be submitted for gallery photo.

    If you received your tee as a gift, you can submit a gallery photo as long as the purchaser does not. You'll need the order number, email address, and billing zip of the order placed. Please contact the person that placed the order for that information
    Why was my gallery photo declined?
    If your photo is sideways, upside down, or of poor quality, your photo may be declined. Also make sure the photo includes a majority of your head or the tee design. Your photo will be declined if it doesn't show a person wearing the tee shirt. Holding up the tee or putting it on your dog is not acceptable...no matter how cute the dog is.
    Why should I do if I have problems uploading a gallery photo?
    If you're still prompted to submit your order number, email address and postal code, make sure you're entering it exactly as you did in your original order. Be sure to enter the order number, not the shipping number and the billing post code, not the shipping post code. Also the field is case sensitive, so capitalize when necessary. If you aren't sure if the info matches, email us and we can check for correctness.
    Can I delete old gallery photos I don't want anymore?
    Certainly! Send us an email and we can delete any old photo for you. Please keep in mind that we'll also remove any StreetTeam points earned with the photos!

    How was Threadless created?
    Founder and CSO Jake Nickell won a tee shirt design competition for an event in London through a now-defunct online art forum called Dreamless. This inspired Jake, and friend Jacob DeHart to create Threadless, an ongoing open call for tee shirt design submissions, as a way to “give back” to the community by actually creating products featuring the work created by participating artists.

    What began as a hobby evolved into a business once the idea took off after a few years. Threadless’ growth was a community effort of increased participation and word of mouth.
    How does Threadless work?
    All designs printed on Threadless are voted on and picked by the community. Users can submit designs to Threadless, which are then voted on for a 7 day period by other users in the community. Once the scoring period has ended, the design receives a score from 0 to 5. This is used as a gauge by Threadless to decide what gets made into a tee or print!
    What is Threadless?
    Threadless is an online design community where users can score designs, offer comments and critiques, and post about whatever is on their minds.
